Au Fait

All but me are in the know
having got the nod, or the wink
the special handshake, the inside
running, a tap to the side of the
nose, thumbs up and she'll be

jake. Everybody's been tipped off
except me. They're savvy to it
of course. Mention the right name
and you're in, realising what the
lurk is, having got the whisper

and been put in the picture,
Part of the in-crowd that goes
way back they know the score
and the password comes so easily
to their lips. Cottoned on to

what's happening, yes, you bet.
Maybe Life's a bit of a doddle
when you've the trick of it.
I'm not au fait, but that's okay
it's always been this way for me.
