Editors' Note

We would like to pay tribute to Dr John Dawson, who is relinquishing his duties as Joint Editor of Tuatara. He has been involved with almost every issue of Tuatara since 1958, either as Assistant Editor, Editor or Botanical Editor. John has made many significant contributions to the journal in the past 27 years. These include the many excellent articles he has written and we look forward to more of them. In addition he has stimulated interest in a wide range of topics which have led to a series of articles by several contributors e.g. on geographical relationships of plants and animals and on early New Zealand biologists. Above all, John Dawson has devoted enormous time and energy, year after year, to obtaining and editing articles for Tuatara, maintaining the high standards set by the first Editors of the journal and has done his very best to ensure that each issue of Tuatara “arrived on time”. The members of the Botany and Zoology Departments of V.U.W. sincerely thank him.
