Next morning we started in Company with Mr Blair C.E. for Balclutha, driving over a considerable rise (Caversham rise) until we came in view of the Taieri Plains, which are splendidly laid out in smiling farms;- a sight to make us feel we could not be away from England. We got to a sort page 95 Of honeymoon Cottage called Adanis, where the host got Tea for us and made us comfortable. We passed the Waihola Lake (White Water Lake) which is not picturesque, and saw some sandstone similar to that at Caversham ,and at length found our way to a seam of Lignite at least 30 feet thick.
