Who's Who

Bill Sheat

Bill Sheat is co-producer this year, continuing an association with Extravs which began in 1949. Bill has filled the parts of lead, author and producer in recent years and has the ability to get the show across to the audience in a spectacular manner. In 1959 he produced "The Seven Year Itch" for Repertory. Bill also produced Flowtow's opera "Martha" in which the National Orchestra featured, conducted by John Hopkins. He has studied production with Richard Campion. Nola Miller and Hugh Hunt, and has played numerous parts for for Wellington Repertory.

Des Deacon

Des Deacon is the organiser of Extravaganza this year. He is a law student and is on the Students Association Executive. The friendship between Des and Extravaganza began in 1955 when he played the part of Plato Narcissus. Since then he has regularly played the villain of the show, and will be remembered by Wellington audiences as Gritpipe Thynne in 1958 and in 1959 as P, T. Y. Holmes—both villains.

Stan Dorward

Stan "Slim" Dorward is the Musical Director of "Carry On Phil." Stan first appeared on the Wellington musical scene in 1943 and since then has played with most dance hall and cabaret groups in the city. He toured N.Z. with the George Wallace Jr. Show, "The Kanga-roosters," and most recently was a member of the well-known Pines Group. Stan has arranged and played with such artists as John Parkin and Garth Young. We venture to state that his most unique experience to date will be his association with Extravaganza.

Peter Coates will be best remembered as Dad Brown in "Vat '59." This year he is backstage as a set designer. Peter is a school teacher with a flair for art. During the summer he participated in a school for set-designers conducted by Raymond Boyce. Peter has the knack of combining technical ability with the desired Extravaganza atmosphere, and is a valuable asset to our production team.

Jeff Stewart is this year's choreagrapher. For the last few years he has been in Canada, working in "Theatre Under The Starts" in Vancouver. While there, he worked with such starts as Robert Rounseville, Mary La Roche and Sally Forrest. Many ideas for Extravaganza's musical numbers are as a result of study with Ada Broadbent, the American choreographer. Jeff has apeared on Tv and in night clubs and has the practical ability necessary for a successful staging of a show such as

Extravaganza.

Terry Browne

Terry Browne is co-producer this year as in 1958. Last year he successfully produced "Vat '59" for us and has given us the benefit of his wide dramatic experience. He appeared in Repertory's "Peter Pan" and "Blue Bird" some years ago, and since then has had numerous parts in Wellington productions. Recently, Terry attended the N.Z. Drama Council school held at Massey College, and this year, apart from his work with Extravaganza, he is co-author and producer of Repertory's 1960

Revue.

Cyril Bustin

Cyril Bustin is this year's stage manager. Although this is his first "Extravaganza" his experience will ensure that few "snags" will arise during each performance. Cyril has had varied theatre experience in Auckland and Wellington. Among the long list of shows which he has been associated with are: "The Vagabond King," "One For The Road," "Babes In The Wood," "The Pied Piper," "Fiftyseven Varieties," "High Spirits," "Quiet Weekend,"
