Mr. William James Harland, the Organist of Wesley Church, was born in Sunderland, England, where he was educated. He came to New Zealand via Melbourne in 1879, and settled in Wellington. Mr. Harland has, since its inception, been a member of the Wellington Orchestral Society. As an organist, he has filled the position which he now holds since the opening of the Church some sixteen years ago. In 1881 Mr. Harland was married to Miss Lackland, daughter of Mr. George Lackland, of Sunderland, and has one son and one daughter.
