Mr. Luks, sometime proprietor of the Victoria Hotel, Victoria Street, sat in the City Council as a member for Grafton Ward from 1891 to 1893. He is referred to in another article as an old colonist who arrived in Australia in 1860, and came to New Zealand in 1864.
