Land Transfer Office And Deeds Registry. The office of the District Land Registrar and Registrar of Deeds for the Auckland district is situated on the ground floor of the S.M. Court buildings in High Street.
Mr. Edwin Bamford, Registrar of Deeds and District Land Registrar for the Auckland district, has been in the Civil Service for nearly thirty years. The son of Mr. John Dean Bamford, one of the first solicitors practising in Canterbury, the subject of this notice was born in Shropshire, England, in 1846, and came with his parents to New Zealand in 1851 in the ship “Steadfast.” Educated in Lyttelton and Christchurch, Mr. Bamford studied law under Mr. W. Sefton Moorhouse and Mr. Justice Williams, and was admitted to the Bar in 1871. A year later he was appointed Examiner of Titles under the Government, and was at various times stationed at Napier, Blenheim, New Plymouth, and Nelson. He was transferred to Auckland in 1893. Mr. Bamford is also the Examiner of Titles, Registrar of Industrial and Provident Societies, Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, and Registrar of Building Societies.
