The Stipendiary Magistrates's court
The Stipendiary Magistrates's court, which stands on a terrace in High Street, and is overlooked by Albert Park, is a brick building, which contains, in addition to the rooms required for the court, a number of offices connected with public departments; namely, the Land Transfer Office, Deeds Registration Office, and Stamp Office. The building was originally crected as a Wesleyan chapel. Captain Brabant is the senior Stipendiary Magistrate for the city, and is assisted by Mr. T. Hutchison, who was formerly Stipendiary Magistrate at Masterton.
