Mr. Robert Blaikie

Mr. Robert Blaikie , sometime of “Woodend,” Ryal Bush, was born in 1852, in Inverness-shire, Scotland, where he was brought up to farming. He came out to New Zealand by the ship “Robert Henderson,” in 1863, and took up 400 acres at Ryal Bush. The land was then covered with bush, but Mr Blaikie lived to see it brought to a fine state of eultivation. The homestead is well appointed in every respect, and is surrounded by beautifully laid out lawns, flower borders and walks. Mr Blaikie was for many years a member of the Wallacetown Presbyterian church. He was married, in 1889, to a daughter of Mr George Coombes, of Ryal Bush, and he died on the 15th of April, 1902.
