Spring Burn Farm , one of the best arable properties on the Winton Plains, comprises 1260 acres of freehold land and eighty acres of leasehold. It is owned by Mr. Peter Thomson, in partnership with his brothers, and they chiefly graze cross-bred Leicesters for the English market, about 1000 being sold annually to the Freezing Company. When first taken up the country was in a virgin state, and covered with flax. Large sums of money have been expended in breaking up and draining the property, and it is now one of the best cultivated farms in the Winton district.
