Mr. Samuel Stebbing Revans
Mr. Samuel Stebbing Revans
was born near Montreal, Canada, in the year 1838, and is a son of the late Dr. Stebbing Revans, of Canada, and nephew of the late Mr. Samuel Revans, secretary of the first New Zealand Association and proprietor and printer of the first newspaper published in the province of Wellington

ton. He was educated in Canada, and was afterwards engaged there in commercial and banking pursuits. Mr. Revans came to New Zealand, via London, in 1862, by the ship “African,” and landed in Auckland in August of that year. He joined the Bank of New Zealand at Auckland, and remained in its service until 1895, when he retired on a pension, after having been either accountant or manager at Christchurch, Wellington, Hokitika, Ashburton, Waimate, Nelson and Napier. Mr Revans has since been engaged in commercial pursuits in Napier. He is a life member of the Canterbury Rowing Club, Christchurch, and a member of the Napier Rowing Club.
