Bakers.

Warren, Robert, Baker, Confectioner, Pastry-cook and Caterer, Heretaunga Street, Hastings. This business was established in 1898, by the present proprietor, who is well and favourably known as an experienced tradesman. The premises are large and commodious, and consist of a small goods shop and bakery, which occupy a site near the Carlton Club Hotel. An extensive retail trade is conducted, and there is a large daily output of bread. Ten persons are employed, page 461 and goods are delivered throughout the town and district. The propritor makes a speciality of catering for race meetings, balls, and other functions. Mr. Warren was born at King's Cross, London, England, on the 7th of June, 1871, and came to New Zealand at an early age. He was educated at the Havelock North public school, and afterwards served an apprenticeship of five years to his trade, under Mr. John Cullen. Mr. Warren then worked as a journey man in Napier for about two years, and in the year 1891 established himself in business on his own account in Havelock North where he conducted a successful business until removing to Hastings. Mr. Warren is a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters; he is married and has three sons.
