Mr. James J. Niven, one of the elective members of the Napier Licensing Committee, was formerly one of the partners in the large engineering firm at the Spit, which is still carried on under the style of J. J. Niven and Company. Mr. Niven is now (1906) manager of the Napier Fish Supply Company.
