Cold June
Cold June
Winter falls darkly on the woods,
and the blue boughs are washed with rain;
it will be long ere the springtime buds,
and the flowers come forth again.
But wraiths of the summer's lovely host
still linger in the woodland ways,
sorrowfully calling, ghost to ghost,
in the harsh sunless days.
