Recreations for Solitary Hours
An Epigram on the Lazy Man
An Epigram on the Lazy Man.
The lazy man is but an ass
Who will not at his labour ply,
Till driven with the staff of want,
By's master, John Necessity.
Then wags his tail, and shakes his head,
Scorning to move against his will,
Yet two 'r three steps he trots along
To let folk see he's living still.
