Marginella Iota, Sp. Nov.

Shell ovate, truncate anteriorly, white, smooth. Spire slightly exserted. Aperture comparatively wide. Outer lip thick, sinuate, smooth within. Inner lip with three principal anterior plications and several remote subsidiary ones, deep within. Length 1·5, breadth ·95 mm.

The only Marginella comparable in size, known from the tropical Pacific, is Fig. 41. M. mariei, Crosse, whose broad shell and immersed spire easily distinguish it.
