The Atoll of Funafuti, Ellice group : its zoology, botany, ethnology and general structure based on collections made by Charles Hedley of the Australian Museum, Sydney, N.S.W.

Planaxis lineatus, Da Costa

Planaxis lineatus, Da Costa.

Tryon, he. cit., p. 278, pl. liii., figs. 49 - 57, 59, 63 - 66; pl. lii., figs. 38-48.

This species is also markedly gregarious. Little colonies occurred under stones between tide marks on the outer reef of Funafuti.

Tryon mentions this from the Solomons, Tahiti and Paumotus. Melvill and Stan den record it under the synonym of P. virgatus, Smith, from Lifu. Smith gives it from Fiji, I have collected it at Oubatche, New Caledonia, and this Museum has it from Hawaii and the New Hebrides.
