No. 325 (1908).—Petitions of Eru Pohe and 53 Others, and 22 similar Petitions as per attached Schedule.

Petitioners pray that the supply of liquor to Maoris shall be prohibited, or, in the alternative, that right be given to Maoris in the Maori electoral districts or Maori Council districts to vote on the question whether or not liquor shall be supplied to Maoris.

I am directed to report that, as a question of policy is involved, the committee has no recommendation to make on these petitions.

No. 325 (1908).—Pitihana a Eru Pohe me etahi atu e rima tekau ma toru, me etahi atu pitihana pera ano e rua tekau ma rua e mau nei i roto i te Kupu Apiti i raro iho nei.

E inoi ana kia araitia te hoatutanga waipiro ki nga Maori, ranei ki te kore e peratia, kia whakawhiwhia he mana ki nga Maori i roto i nga Takiwa Pootitanga mema Maori me nga Takiwa Kaunihera Maori ranei ki te pooti mo runga i taua take, ara mehemea me hoatu kaua ranei e hoatu he waipiro ki nga Maori.

Kua whakahaua ahau kia ripoata, i te mea e pa ana ki runga ki nga tikanga whakahaere (a te Kawanatanga) no reira kaore kau he kupu a te Komiti mo runga i enei pitihana.
