BLACK, Alice (Mrs F. Weir) 1871–1951
Born New South Wales, daughter of a sheep farmer. The family page 43 came to Auckland in the 1870s and lived in Takapuna, their house the now well-known ‘Grey Dene’ overlooking Lake Pupuke. Studied under L. J. Steele in Auckland. An oil of Lake Pupuke from Grey Dene is in Takapuna Public Library.
