COLLINSON, Thomas Bernard 1822–1902

An officer in the Royal Engineers who, after thirty five years' service on full pay, was given honorary rank of Major-General when he retired in 1873. He served in NZ during the disturbances in the Wanganui district in 1847. In 1892–94 he wrote Seven Years Service on the borders of the Pacific Ocean 1843–1850 describing, with his own and others' illustrations, his time with artillery and sapper page 71 detachments in Hong Kong, Sydney and New Zealand.
