Church List For Freshers

For the benefit of those new to Wellington in 1966, the following is a list of the major churches in the city, their pastors, and the times of Sunday services.

The two main Anglican churches are St. Paul's Cathedral, near Parliament Building (Dean W. E. W. Hurst), at which Sunday services are held at 8am. 11am and 7 pm, and St. Peter's, in Willis Street (Rev. Godfrey Wilson), where the services are at 8am, 10am and 7pm.

The Central Baptist Church is located at Boulcott Street, and the minister is the Rev. J. C. McFadden. Services are held at 11am and 7pm on Sundays.

Brethren services are held on Sundays at 11am and 7pm in the Elizabeth Street Chapel.

St Mary of the Angels' Catholic church in Boulcott Street (parish priest the Rev. Fr. Spillaine), hold Sunday masses at 6am, 7am. 8am, 9.30am, 11am and 5.30pm. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Hill Street (parish priest the Rev. Fr. Totman) has mass at 7am. 9am, 10.30am and 7pm.

The Rev. C. M. Russ is the minister a the Church of Christ's Wellington South church in Rintoul Street, Newtown. Services are held on Sundays at 11am and 7pm.

The Congregalional Church is at Cambridge Terrace, and the minister is the Rev. J. B. Chambers. Sunday services are at 1lam and 7pm.

The Salvation Army Citadel In Vivian Street 'Major A H. Harford) holds its services at 11am and 7pm also.

Friends' House (Society of Friends) is situatedin Moncrieff Street, just off Elizabeth Street, and the Sunday meeting is at 11am.
