Masskerade

"Massey must not be allowed to get away with its encroachment," said Mr. Geoff Rashbrooke, Executive's Sports Officer. "Masskerade must be censored to save our own reputation."

NZUSA Winter Council left the capping magazine problem to be resolved between constituents, president John McGrath told executive.

"If the present 'Capping Week' is changed to June, there will be less competition for Cappicade from Masskerade," he pointed out.

However, executive have decided to send a committee to Massey to discuss the situation with Mr. Roger O'Dwyer, the publications officer for Massey.

No beauty

"The University is no place for beauty contests," Miss E. Shankland, International Affairs Officer, told executive recently.

The executive agreed that there had been a lack of enthusiasm on the part of female students for the Beauty Contest in August.

Girls had been coerced into entering, and some were forced in under false pretences.

If a representative should be needed for future national contests it was decided to hold any further contests during "Capping Week."

But a motion was passed that beauty contests at Victoria or any other university should be discouraged.

Architecture

The University Council has approved the establishment of a school of architecture, to commence as soon as possible.

It will become another faculty of Victoria University, eventually becoming associated with a School of Engineering.

The building will be situated at the top of Ghuznee Street.

Tours of schools

"The University Council has given the students association permission to continue with its annual Tour of Schools, but the association must meet all expenses," reported Mr. Moriarty from the Council.

"In 1963 the Council were glad to assist. In 1964 they offered to pay expenses up to £150," said Mr. Shand, the Public Relations officer.

"The Council feels it is being generous in other ways," Mr. Moriarty replied.

The tours will continue at association expense.

Uniforms

By The End of next year the executive hopes to have Victoria University ties and sweat shirts available to students.

The tie will be dark green with gold emblems.

It will be every similar to the NZUSA tie which John McGrath so frequently wears.

Sweat shirts will be white with the university crest on the back.

Delay in production has been caused by the need to import a material of heavy enough quality. They may be imported, already made up, from the United States.

Parking

The Wai-te-Ata Road car park is not being used, executive claims. The Vice-Chancellor says that students used to control the car park two years ago, but they had been glad to hand it back to the administration.

There will be an investigation by the university into the reasons why the park is not now being used by the university staff to whom it is allocated.
