Otago fills NZUSA gaps

Otago fills NZUSA gaps

Four of the five officers on the New Zealand University Students Association Executive are Otago delegates. They were appointed at the first meeting of the new Executive.

Denis Pezaro, past president of Otago, is Student Welfare Officer, Peter Young is National Concessions Officer, Din Lai (a Fijian student) is NZUSA WUS Officer, and Pacific Officer is Roger Lampen. The nonOtago man is Yunus Noor, NZUSA Overseas Student Officer from Canterbury.

For John Scott, ex-Vice-President of Massey, and Paddy Finnigan, President of Otago, this was their first Executive meeting. They were selected to fill the two vacant Executive positions by an extremely close vote. The other re-elected members of the Executive are Ross Mountain, President: Dave Shand, Treasurer, and Edna Tait.

This now means that of five Executive positions, Otago holds one, and of seven possible Officers' positions, Otago has four. Auckland. Waikato and Lincoln are not represented on the new Executive.
