Students In Need Of Money

Students In Need Of Money

The University Appointments Board is opening a register for people seeking part time jobs.

Mr. A. T. Mitchell, secretary of the board, said he believed more people were going to need part time jobs this year than usual.

Low holiday incomes because of lower wages and the smaller amount of overtime available this year would make it harder for students, he said.

There had already been thirty or forty inquiries for part time work, although the noticeboard in the Student Union Building had made it clear that all available jobs were posted on the board.

Because of the shortage of work, from now on no jobs will be posted on the board.

The new procedure will be time consuming for him and his secretary. Mr. Mitchell said.

Each student wanting a job will fill in a questionnaire and be interviewed.

This usually takes about quarter of an hour.

The procedure would allow more accurate advertising and publicity, said Mr. Mitchell.

He will be able to look for the kinds of jobs required and to give special attention to the more serious cases.
