Sitting In The Park

As I grew older the days grew shorter …
And then when I grew really old
they stretched out again,
in a long curve of
green twilight and harbour lights.
So that now I am living
on borrowed time
(with nothing to expect
and nothing expected of me);
and I have
all the time in the world —
all my life, in fact —
to do things in

… and my life is endless as a summer's day because I do not look beyond it
