Salient. Victoria University Student Newspaper. Vol 36 No. 5. 29 March 1973

[Editorial staff]

Salient was edited by Peter Franks and Roger Steele. Most of the copy was typeset by Irene Kennedy. Among the workers who wrote it and laid it out were Gyles Becklord, Cheryl Dimond, Helen Pankhurst, Michael Murphy. Felieity Tuohy. David Tripe, Thomas Proctor. Graeme Collins. Rob Campbell. Tony Ward, Lloyd Weeber, Frith Jennings, Peter Boshier, Neal Pearce and Bruce Robinson.

Cartoons were drawn by Don Franks who may appear to have a monopoly in this field but, as a good Marxist-Leninist, he will integrate with masses of workers (and students) with ideas when the concrete conditions are right. Photographs were taken by Grub, Hilary Watson, Mike Curtis and Tony Robinson.

We need people in all departments, especially people to look for stories and those who have news they want to tell the world. Typists, who can work a few hours a week, are urgently needed to produce legible copy from the piles of cramped scribble that are handed in to us. Anyone who wants to learn lay out is very welcome and the Foreign Editor says he "would love" a curvaceous young "research assistant" to pore over "The Times" with him.

Highly placed publishing sources in Wellington believe that Salient was one day late this week because of "undisclosed difficulties". They say, however, that the real reasons will be made public in a "major editorial announcement" within the "very near future". But the typist reckons that this announcement will be made as soon as Big Norm's "forthcoming" statement on the Tour.
