Petition

We, the undersigned being currently students of English at Victoria University hereby request:
(1)The abolition of all prerequisite and corequisites including the foreign language prerequisite.
(2)Instead we suggest a first year course (worth 12 credits) which empasises the teaching of the skills of literature study and the general characterisatics of various stages in the development of English literature rather than a detailed study of a limited period. This course would be taught with greater emphasis on tutorials than at present as the Department has suggested.
(3)A wide range of courses at a level beyond 100 from which a student having completed the 100 course descrubed in (2) above could select whichever courses he wished to acquire the necessary total of credits to graduate in English.
(4)The introduction of a post war 'recent writing' course as suggested by Professor McKenzie at the first forum.

Petitions can be handed in to the Studass Office, or you can wait till its handed around in lectures.
