4th of July Celebrations

Exploding crackers, paint bombs, jeering crowds, and police violence added a touch of the 'American way of doing things' for the benefit of incoming guests at the Majestic Cabaret on July 4 last week. The Americans were celebrating their Independence day and had invited their few remaining N.Z. friends along. A large number of demonstrators, many of them muttering about Cambodia or some other Godforsaken hole, gathered to welcome the party. Four young New Zealanders gave up their independence to the police during the demonstration;

No, the bright eyed fellow in the suit wasn't an outraged citizen — just a cop who stood in the shadows watching and waiting for his piece of the action.
