n the preliminary notices having reference to this publication, it was announced that the work would be illustrated with several photo-lithographic views of New Zealand scenery. As the publishers were anxious that the first edition of the "Tourist" should be circulated at Sydney within a month of the opening of the Exhibition, it was found impossible to have the sketches completed in the limited time at their disposal. In order, however, to keep faith with the public, they made arrangements for the publication of a photographic view (by Burton Brothers) with each copy of the first issue. They also present their readers with two well-executed and reliable sketch maps, bound with each number of the book.
