GENERAL
This last summer season saw VUWAE's twelfth season of fieldwork in the Ross Dependency. This year, VUWAE undertook four projects:
1. | investigation of Beacon Group stratigraphy and paleontology between the Boomerang and Olympus Ranges (McKelvey, Webb, Gorton, Kohn); |
2. | gathering heat-flow measurements from the floor of McMurdo Sound, along the west coast of Ross Island, undertaken by Jim Cousins; |
3. | investigation of Quaternary stratigraphy in Wright and Taylor Valleys, a project started last summer by Professor Wellman and Mr Vucetich and continued this summer by Burt Murrell; |
4. | investigation of meltwater channels, deltas, and alluvial fans by Russell Blong. |
All projects were successfully completed. A short report on each project is presented by project leaders in subsequent pages.
