— I hope that your answer to my previous letters may enable me to go on with your election as a Director of the Company; for it is a process which requires notices and takes some time, whilst your being able to sit at the Board on your arrival in London is very desirable. If the affair should not proceed, you could but retire. Whether or not it will proceed depends on your means of inducing people of mark to take a real interest in the project. Anything that you could do in that way as preparation will not be lost. You will have to pass a day or two with me before setting to work. I am about to take a house for six months within five minutes' walk of the Reigate Station, for the sole purpose of being accessible to you and others.
