Reigate, 24th November, 1849.

My Dear Godley,

—Your formal Power of Attorney must be carefully drawn. Some special terms are required for authorising you to dismiss servants appointed by the Association. Colonel Wakefield's first power, which was intended to be ample, turned out to be insufficient through some technical defect. If the Association could do it, I should recommend them to get the Power drawn by Robert Few, who from experience knows all about it. I doubt not he would do it; as he recently expressed to me his opinion that the Association had dona well not to make him their Solicitor. It is a matter of great moment.

Just after you were gone, Mr. Martin came to take an affectionate leave of you.
