The Founders of Canterbury
(Private.) W. G. Brittan, Esq. Reigate, 9th April, 1850
My Dear Mr. Brittan,
—Lest in the hurry you might not hear it so soon otherwise, I write to say that the guarantee has been accepted by the Company; and that as soon as the Government consents (probably in a day or two) the mischievous contingency will be at an end.
Please tell Chapman. The work was not over till five o'clock in the City; and I was too much beat to think of any whither but home.
Ever yours truly,
E. G. Wakefield.
