Chapter III

Shine upon my skin o sun,
And smoothly be thy touch.
As is a line being spun
So is the truth of god's keen bite
While shake, scalps of slain
Are waved high in the air.
T'wain will to end the grief
At once, and let me die
That I may go, and be
At Whitianga-te-ra
(Spirit world of sun shine).
Now Kuru, had the death
Of man been like the
Death the moon oft dies,
A death that dies, and
Comes to life and lives again
As death the moon, and
Hath from ancient times done so.
But I will clasp my hands
And shield my chest, as
Thou hast said these words
"That I must follow now
The long long days, nor
Seek the ………. days"
Yes I will ………. myself
To evil now and die.
